Toolmaker
Position Summary The Toolmaker is responsible for maintaining, repairing and modifying SEHA mold tooling assets.
Role and Responsibilities
- Disassembly, assembly and repair of injection molds and stamping dies.
- Run all machine shop related equipment (Manual lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, TIG welder and various hand tools).
- Ability to work with large tonnage injection molds and progressive stamping dies.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems at the press.
- Mentoring and teaching PM Techs and Apprentices.
Skills and Qualifications
Education
- Associate Degree in Machine Tool Technology, Apprenticeship Training or OJT (on the job training).
Experience
- Toolmaker level 1-6 = 1-7 years experience, Senior Toolmaker 1-4 = 8 plus years experience.
- Knowledge: Basic machine shop operation, Basic knowledge of tooling design and function. Overhead crane and forklift operation.
Skills
- Work independently, critical thinking and problem solving. Good communication with coworkers, Supervisors and Part Leader.
- Physical requirements: Frequently required to stand; use hands to handle and reach. Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
