About the Role Tooling Technician at Sonoco will be responsible for preventative maintenance and standard repairs on injection molds, troubleshooting mold issues, and supporting mold changeovers. The role requires hands-on disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of molds, along with on-press support during startups and troubleshooting events. Candidates will operate machining equipment to perform repairs and modifications with precision. What You'll Do
- Perform preventative maintenance and standard repairs on injection molds according to established schedules and procedures.
- Troubleshoot mold issues including wear, venting, cooling inefficiencies, and minor component failures.
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble molds with minimal supervision.
- Support mold changeovers and provide on-press assistance during startups and troubleshooting events.
- Operate machining equipment (milling machines, lathes, grinders) to complete repairs and minor modifications; perform precision work.
- Perform precision repairs and modifications using machining equipment. What We're Looking For
- Experience performing preventative maintenance and repairs on injection molds
- Ability to troubleshoot mold-related issues including wear, venting, and cooling inefficiencies
- Experience disassembling, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling molds with minimal supervision
- Experience supporting mold changeovers and providing on-press assistance during startups
- Proficiency in operating machining equipment (milling machines, lathes, grinders)
- Strong attention to detail and precision in workmanship Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $29.32 - $34.91 per hour (depends on experience)
- Shift: 1st shift - 7am to 3pm
