Job title: Tooling Engineer
About the Role Tooling Engineer at Milwaukee Tool is responsible for providing optimum designed tooling and fixtures to support production and quality requirements, ensuring on-time delivery. The role also provides technical support to engineering, quality, and production groups to achieve defined business goals and objectives.
What You'll Do
- Own Mold Tool Development and Qualification at the Cookeville Manufacturing Plant, delivering cost-effective, high-quality tooling required to manufacture products.
- Liaise with counterparts to ensure project alignment and provide process updates.
- Work with external Tool Makers and internal departments to meet cost targets, deliverables, and timelines.
- Provide direction, guidance, and expertise to team members on design and development of parts and tooling.
- Track, delegate, and review work within the project scope; ensure completion of deliverables within budget and schedule.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans with Project Leads and Management.
- Communicate progress and timelines clearly, both verbally and in writing; explain technical details to engineers and non-engineers at multiple locations.
- Apply technical knowledge of material properties for metals and plastics; read and interpret conceptual designs, drawings, blueprints, and CAD models using Siemens NX and AutoCAD; assist shop personnel in understanding tool drawings.
- Meet Education and Experience requirements: High School Diploma with technical/vocational training in Toolmaking or Die Design; 5 years of experience designing and making Plastic Injection Mold Tools; 2D/3D CAD experience (AutoCAD & NX preferred); strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
