About the Role Reporting to the Quality Manager, this role is responsible for design, layout, constructing, altering and repairing a normal variety of tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, machines, and equipment. They create customer success by delivering the best experiences to their internal and external customers. What You'll Do
- Follow prescribed safety standards, rules and regulations including PPE usage, Emergency Plans and EH&S Policy.
- Identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions by submitting employee observations.
- Maintain 5S by organizing tools, equipment, and parts and ensuring they have a dedicated, labeled home.
- Monitor and alert the Manager of abnormalities from standard processes, machine operation, product quality, and logistics management.
- Complete all CILR activities, identify deficiencies and sources of contamination, including difficult access areas, and implement suitable countermeasures.
- Recognize and report drawing or blueprint errors that may prevent proper function of tools.
- Perform design reviews and follow-up fixturing concerns through to production.
- Set up and run tool tryouts, diagnose, and remedy operational, material, or dimensional problems.
- Make correct decisions as to fits, finishes, machining, and assembly sequences to produce workable units and maintain close tolerances.
- Plan inspection procedures and layout work in proper inspection sequence; perform necessary mathematical calculations.
- Demonstrate understanding of statistical process control and geometric tolerancing.
- Ensure all products meet quality guidelines and follow quality standards, and actively contribute to quality improvements.
- Utilize CAD software extensively to support design and fixture development. What We're Looking For
- Experience designing, laying out, constructing, altering and repairing tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, machines, and equipment as described.
- Proficiency with CAD software and drawing interpretation.
- Ability to identify drawing/blueprint errors and implement corrective actions.
- Knowledge of tolerances, fits, finishes, machining, and assembly sequences.
- Experience with design reviews, fixturing concerns, and transitioning to production.
- Ability to plan inspection procedures and perform calculations; familiarity with SPC and geometric tolerancing.
- Strong safety mindset and commitment to EH&S policies; 5S discipline.
