About the Role The Ingest/Transmission Operator and Editor oversees all inbound and outbound media, content distribution, and news-gathering operations. Responsibilities include monitoring on-air product quality, ensuring compliance with government regulations, troubleshooting technical equipment, editing news content, and preparing programming for broadcast.
What You'll Do
- Monitor and manage inbound and outbound media using various transmission methods, including fiber, Skype, and LiveU.
- Ensure timely response to breaking news events and oversee broadcast delivery.
- Collaborate with team members and network staff, providing operational support as needed.
- Identify, edit, and insert broadcast-quality video and audio into news bulletins on short notice.
- Handle broadcast media and feeds, manage video and audio switching, and operate recording equipment.
- Utilize servers and monitoring systems to manage media acquisition and delivery.
- Ingest media into servers and prepare files for editing and broadcast.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and escalate technical issues when necessary.
- Support live studio production requirements and provide excellent service to internal and external media operations clients.
- Monitor and control video encoding and decoding systems and troubleshoot incoming and outgoing transmission paths.
- Develop and implement backup plans for equipment or transmission failures.
- Edit news content using non-linear editing systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
