About the Role The TMCF SOAR Program (Seeking, Observing and Achieving Results) is a multi-year initiative that supports high school students as they explore college and career pathways and transition to college or the workforce. The program features Year 1 on-campus, residential explorations at partner HBCUs/HBCCs, followed by Year 2 enrichment and preparation, with a total of 16 week-long residential experiences across multiple locations. What You'll Do
- Participate in a 16-week residential summer program hosted on the campuses of HBCUs and HBCCs in Alabama, Illinois, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Texas, and U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Explore academic majors and career pathways aligned with interests; engage in hands-on professional and leadership development experiences.
- Connect with current students, faculty, staff and alumni; learn about the college admissions process and available financial aid.
- Build relationships within a cohort from across states; receive guidance and support for life after high school.
- After the residential program, participate in virtual learning experiences focused on college applications, resume development and professional communication. What We're Looking For
- High school students graduating in the class of 2027.
- GPA 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (preferred).
- Ability to provide an academic transcript (official or unofficial).
- Letter of recommendation from an academic teacher, administrator, advisor, coach or counselor.
- Personal statement (250-300 words) addressing short-term and long-term goals and how participation in SOAR will help achieve them. Compensation & Benefits
- This program is free to participate; housing and meals are provided during the residential experiences.
- Transportation to and from the summer boot camp is the family’s responsibility.
- Program includes both on-campus experiences and virtual enrichment opportunities to support college and career readiness.
