Tier 1 SOC Analyst

Location: Rockville, Maryland (Onsite)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Tier 1 SOC Analyst responsible for analyzing and responding to security events and incidents. This role involves monitoring various data sources such as SIEM, Firewall, Intrusion Detection Systems, Intrusion Prevention Systems, Endpoint Security Solutions, and Network Access Control to protect client infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and respond to security events and incidents from SIEM, Firewall, Intrusion Detection Systems, Intrusion Prevention Systems, and other data sources.

• Monitor security tools and systems for potential threats.

• Communicate technical details clearly through written and verbal reports.

• Required Qualifications

• Experience: 1-3 years in a security operations center environment or a recent college graduate with industry certifications. Experience with a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Linux, or UNIX in a functional capacity.

• Experience with Splunk or a similar SIEM tool. Familiarity with the Word application is required.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Candidates should be available for second shift (12:00 PM - 10:00 PM) or third shift (8:00 PM - 6:00 AM) depending on staffing needs.

• Preferred Qualifications

• One or more of the following certifications: CSIS, CEH, CSTA, CSTP, GCFE, CISSP, GCIH, GCIA, GPEN.

• IDS Log analysis skills.

• Experience with packet capture tools and analysis.

• Knowledge of well-known protocols and services (FTP, HTTP, SSH, SMB, DAP).
