About this role
The Third Engineer is responsible to act as Senior Watch keeping Officer or Duty Engineer as per schedule, as well as being involved in regular Engine Room maintenance.
What you will contribute
Technical
-
Perform all duties and maintenance routines for auxiliary engines/diesel generators

Carry out all duties and maintenance routines as per Company instructions, with the oversight of the Chief and/or Second Engineer

Carry out operation and required maintenance of pumps & related systems/equipment & auxiliary equipment

Stock control of the spare parts for pumps & related systems/equipment & auxiliary equipment
Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE)

Carry out all lawful orders given by Chief Engineer and Second Engineer

Ensure the safe operation of all machinery

Ensure the safe and efficient performance of all personnel assigned to his supervision

Maintain relevant knowledge of ship’s emergency procedures, including specific knowledge of the working condition of fixed emergency response systems

Understand the Company Safety Management System as it applies to the responsibilities of this position

Report immediately to the Chief Engineer and Second Engineer whenever anything unforeseen happens

For This Role, You Will Need
STCW Certifications
-
Certificate of Competency in accordance with STCW III/1 – OIC of an Engineering Watch 3000 kW or greater, with all necessary STCW elements

Certificate of Proficiency in accordance with STCW V/2-1 Crowd Management

Certificate of Proficiency in accordance with STCW V/2-3 Crisis Management and Human Behavior

Education and Experience

Successful completion of Mercy Ships On Boarding Program for commitments of 12 months or longer

Minimum of one year sea-going service as an Engineering Watch Officer on a vessel with 3,000 KW propulsion system
