Description

  • THIS POSITION IS PART TIME ONLY - WILL WORK 24 HOURS A WEEK

  • Purpose of Position: The Therapist 1 PT position provides outpatient behavioral health treatment to individuals, addressing emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs through assessment, therapy, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and case coordination. The position works under general supervision and promotes timely, person-centered, culturally responsive care that contributes to the well-being of individuals served by Renew.

  • Distinguishing Characteristics: The Therapist 1 PT is a clinical role responsible for providing outpatient mental health services within an interdisciplinary team. Work focuses on delivering therapeutic services, developing treatment plans, and coordinating care within established clinical guidelines.

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts clinical assessments to identify mental health needs, diagnostic considerations, and functional impairments, informing individualized treatment planning.

  • Delivers individual and group therapy using evidence-informed practices to promote symptom reduction, skill development, and improved functioning.

  • Develops and updates treatment plans that reflect client goals, clinical needs, and program requirements.

  • Provides crisis intervention, safety planning, and stabilization services as needed to address acute concerns and maintain safety.

  • Coordinates care with internal and external providers, including medical, school, legal, and social service partners, to strengthen continuity of services.

  • Engages family members and natural supports, when appropriate, to reinforce treatment goals and promote recovery.

  • Monitors client progress, adjusting interventions based on clinical need and response to treatment.

  • Maintains accurate and timely clinical documentation that complies with WAC, RCW, contracts, and agency standards.

  • Completes service coding, billing documentation, and insurance requirements within established timelines to support appropriate reimbursement.

  • Participates in case consultations, clinical supervision, and interdisciplinary team meetings to enhance treatment quality and collaboration.

  • Provides psychoeducation to individuals and families to increase understanding of mental health conditions and available resources.

  • Upholds client rights and provides services that reflect cultural, linguistic, and developmental needs.

  • Participates in required trainings and professional development to maintain competency and meet regulatory expectations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Education, Experience, and Licensing

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in social or behavioral sciences or closely related field.

  • Meets the definition of a Mental Health Professional under current WAC and RCW requirements.

  • Experience providing therapeutic services, including assessment, treatment planning, and counseling.

  • Experience responding to escalated or aggressive behaviors using least-restrictive interventions.

  • Experience using electronic health records or similar documentation systems.

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position will be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • One year of related experience in the direct treatment of individuals and families with emotional/behavioral disorders.
  • Washington State Licensure in Mental Health, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
  • Training in and application of Evidence Based Practices.
  • Experience providing treatment to children, adults, couples and families with emotional or behavioral disorders.
  • Mental Health Specialist (see WAC and RCW) specific to children, geriatric, developmental disability and ethnic minorities.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Experience working within community-based mental health or county/regional behavioral health systems.

Professional Licenses/Certifications:

  • Washington State Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor Credential. Must maintain an active credential with the State of Washington.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid Washington State Driver's License with proof of automobile insurance and acceptable driving abstract.

  • Physical Abilities and Working Conditions

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is primarily performed in office, community, and field-based settings, including homes, schools, jails, and other community locations.
  • May encounter individuals experiencing emotional distress, hostility, or aggressive behavior.
  • May work in varied environmental conditions, including exposure to fluctuating temperatures and less-controlled environments when providing services off-site.
  • May experience interruptions, moderate noise levels, and changing priorities in shared work environments.
  • Duties require regular travel within the community, including driving in varying road and weather conditions; may also require transporting individuals when appropriate.

  • Sit, stand, walk, and move between locations in community and field settings throughout the workday.

  • Operate office equipment, including a computer, phone, and copier.

  • May be required to lift, carry, or move items up to 20 pounds.

  • Although not the primary focus of this position, Renew facilities provide clinical services so all positions may be exposed to potentially verbally and physically aggressive individuals and/or environments, as well as exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
