The Testing Center Proctor is responsible for supporting the daily operations of Roosevelt University’s Testing Centers at the Chicago (Loop) and Schaumburg campuses. The position administers and coordinates academic and professional examinations, including accommodated testing, while ensuring compliance with university policies and the requirements of external testing organizations. The position maintains a secure, professional, and accessible testing environment and communicates effectively with faculty, staff, students, and community members regarding Testing Center policies and procedures.
The Testing Center Proctor will be flexible with work assignments between the Chicago and Schaumburg Testing Centers based on operational needs. Responsibilities may include exam registration and scheduling using RegisterBlast and other approved platforms, reception and administrative duties, training and coordinating temporary or student employees, monitoring testing sessions, maintaining testing security, and serving as an on-call resource for operational issues during Testing Center hours.
This is an in-person position requiring on-campus presence five days per week.
Position-Specific Requirements:
- Ability to work at both the Chicago and Schaumburg Testing Centers and adjust assignments based on operational needs.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends as required by Testing Center examination schedules.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and testing security standards.
- Ability to successfully complete training and certification requirements for applicable professional testing programs.
The salary for this position is $50,000 annually.
Essential Job Functions Testing Administration:
- Ensures that all test administration is carried out in compliance with relevant university policies and the policies, regulations, guidelines, and standards of applicable testing organizations and platforms.
- Maintains confidentiality of test results and recommendations and maintains the security of testing materials.
- Coordinates with related university departments as required for standardized group and/or individual test administration.
- Administers and/or coordinates academic and nonacademic professional testing.
- Provides testing services for students requiring accommodations in accordance with guidance from the Office of Access Services for Students with Disabilities (ASSD).
- Effectively communicates Testing Center policies, procedures, rules, and requirements to faculty, staff, students, and community members.
- Assists with coordination, scheduling, training, and oversight of student and temporary Testing Center staff.
- Serves as an on-call resource for operational issues during Testing Center hours of operation.
- Represents Testing Center services at university meetings, orientations, open houses, and other appropriate events.
- Performs testing assignments at either the Chicago or Schaumburg Testing Center as operational needs require.
Testing Center Operations and Administration:
- Provides office management and clerical support for Testing Center operations.
- Routes phone calls and responds to Testing Center email inquiries.
- Schedules and coordinates exam appointments.
- Processes and maintains exam information and related documentation.
- Enters and updates examinations in RegisterBlast and other approved examination platforms.
- Assists with registration and scheduling for professional and academic testing programs.
- Maintains accurate records and supports secure handling of examination materials.
- Assists with opening and closing Testing Center facilities and maintaining a secure testing environment.
- Supports daily reception, check-in, check-out, and general Testing Center operations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Two years of relevant job-related experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, employers, and community members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and operate testing service platforms, including but not limited to Pearson VUE, PSI, Prometric, CLEP, DSST, Accuplacer, and other approved testing systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect the security and integrity of examination materials and test results.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and successfully as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to follow detailed testing procedures, policies, regulations, guidelines, and standards.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible assignments between the Chicago and Schaumburg Testing Centers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education
- Required: High School/GED
- Minimum
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certificate in a related field may also satisfy the educational requirement.

Experience working in a college or university Testing Center or other professional testing environment.

Experience administering academic, certification, licensure, or other standardized examinations.

Experience using computerized testing platforms and examination registration systems.

Experience working with testing accommodations and accessibility-related testing procedures.

Standard office equipment, desktop computers, telephones, security and monitoring equipment, and computer-based testing systems.

Working Conditions

Standard, climate-controlled office and Testing Center environment. Position is primarily sedentary in nature, with periods of standing and walking required during exam administration. Some evening and weekend commitments may be required. Travel between the Chicago and Schaumburg Testing Centers is required, and assignments may vary based on Testing Center operational needs.
