About this role

Job title: Test Lead

About us We’re the team behind digital retailer Very. Our purpose, helping families get more out of life, powers everything we do. And we want our people to get more out of life too! If you’re high-performing, ambitious and make the most of every opportunity, we want to hear from you. In return, you’ll enjoy heaps of flexibility, great perks and benefits, and the freedom to be yourself, keep learning and take your career wherever you want it to go. If you love making a difference, you’ll love making it sparkle for millions of Very customers.

About the role

We’re looking for a Test Lead to help make sure changes across our distribution operation are ready to work safely, reliably and effectively. Reporting to the Flow Ops Test Manager, you’ll lead and coordinate User Acceptance Testing across several projects in the Business Change portfolio. You’ll bring structure to testing, give stakeholders a clear view of progress and risk, and help teams make confident decisions about whether new releases are ready to go live. This is an opportunity to influence testing from the outset rather than simply becoming involved at the end. You’ll help shape the strategy, methodology and standards used across both agile and waterfall projects, while remaining close enough to the detail to investigate defects and support test execution yourself.

Key Responsibilities

  • You’ll be the main point of contact for testing matters, working with technical, project and operational colleagues to turn requirements into practical, well-controlled test activity. You’ll:

  • Define test strategies, scope, plans, scripts, acceptance criteria and go/no-go measures.

  • Lead User Acceptance Testing and regression testing across multiple projects.

  • Track test results, defects, risks and issues, giving stakeholders a clear view of release readiness.

  • Coordinate other testing resources when required, ensuring activity is focused and effective.

  • Translate functional requirements into testing that reflects how systems will work in an operational environment.

  • Investigate issues, recommend solutions and escalate risks at the right time.

  • Support new releases with clear documentation and input into standard operating materials.

  • About you

  • We’re looking for someone who combines structured testing knowledge with the confidence to work across technical and operational teams.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience testing core systems, preferably within a large-scale automated logistics or warehouse operation.

  • Strong knowledge of system testing, regression testing and User Acceptance Testing.

  • Experience creating testing strategies, plans, scripts and acceptance criteria.

  • Familiarity with test management or technical tools such as SOAPUI and AWS.

  • Experience working with technical and business stakeholders, including project, development and operational teams.

  • The ability to identify, explain and challenge differences between expected and actual system behaviour.

  • Experience with KNAPP WCS/WMS or Dürkopp systems would be particularly valuable.

  • Some of our benefits

  • Inclusive culture and environment, check out our Glassdoor reviews

  • 30 days holiday + bank holidays

  • LinkedIn learning access.

  • Bonus potential (performance and business-related)

  • Up to 25% discount on Very.co.uk

  • Matched pension up to 6%

  • More benefits can be found on our career site

  • Diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities

  • We’re building a culture of everyday inclusion, and welcome applications from anyone who believes they can do the job. We don’t discriminate based on age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.

  • We want our recruitment process to be accessible to everyone. If you need reasonable adjustments to apply, interview, or perform a role, let us know.

  • We’re proud to be a Disability Confident Committed Employer and have nine brilliant colleague networks - including DAWN and Think - that are helping us make Very an even more inclusive place to work.
