Test Engineer - Sr. Principal

Overview

A Sr. Principal Test Engineer at MTSI will support the PEO C3BM – ABMS – Advanced Battle Management Systems customer. The role focuses on capability development and development planning, working with internal and external stakeholders to plan, execute, assess, and document Developmental Testing (DT) and Operational Testing (OT) of tactical command and control systems. The position is co-located with the customer at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, with most work performed in the customer workspace. Some travel is expected, up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Stand up an Integrated Test Team (ITT) charter to develop and manage the T&E Strategy, Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP), and other required documentation, form subgroups, and identify T&E resource requirements.
• Assist in developing the T&E Strategy that integrates policy, program requirements, cost and resource estimates, evaluation framework, and the overall schedule to achieve program goals.
• Coordinate planning, management, and oversight of DT/OT activities and oversee Contractor and Participating Test Organization (PTO) T&E activities supporting the program.
• Document test activities, including writing test reports, analyzing test data, and making recommendations to the Lead Engineer and leadership.
• Support developmental hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing in a digital environment, as well as live fire testing (LFT) in an operational environment.
• Establish trusted, influential relationships with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders, and coordinate with internal and external organizations to accomplish common goals.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to translate client technical needs into technical specifications.
• Possess knowledge of Government policies, directives, standards, handbooks, and pamphlets, and DoD-adopted industry standards relating to security (highly desired).
• Apply specialized knowledge in areas such as tactical sensors, missile defense effectors, tactical data link networks, sensor/effector integration, or aircraft systems.
• Understand the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s framework, directives, and policies.

Requirements

• Minimum of 15 years of engineering experience with a focus on developmental test or operational test (DT/OT).
• Knowledge of DoD T&E policies, practices, and procedures.
• Experience in writing or translating test documents such as TEMP and DT/OT plans.
• Experience with ACAT I/II acquisition programs is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with military communication systems and DoD standards and regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to shift between multiple projects in a dynamic, agile work environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly translate client technical needs into technical specifications.
• Demonstrated ability to independently execute, lead, and complete tasks, drive projects to closure, and assimilate and correlate project information in a fast-paced environment.
