About the Role Stratolaunch is seeking a Test Engineer II or Sr to support the environmental test team for Talon hypersonic vehicle programs. The role focuses on environmental and functional testing of avionics components and associated ground and flight test hardware, contributing to test planning, execution, failure analysis and overall validation. What You'll Do
- Create environmental test plans, procedures, and reports to satisfy internal and external test requirements.
- Participate in environmental tests onsite and offsite.
- Support test execution via scheduling and travel to test houses as required.
- Contribute to and perform failure analysis and develop recovery plans for test failures.
- Maintain and operate environmental test equipment (vibration tables, thermal chambers).
- Design new environmental test instrumentation systems and support their operation.
- Support operations of existing environmental test instrumentation systems.
- Possess knowledge of DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, and related environmental standards.
- Coordinate and schedule testing of a broad range of components. What We're Looking For
- Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) and 2-5 years of relevant experience for Level II; 5-10 years for Sr; or equivalent combination.
- Knowledge of electrical engineering, software engineering, avionics, experimental aircraft and/or launch vehicle integration.
- Fundamental knowledge of environmental component-level tests.
- Experience integrating launch vehicle or aircraft electrical systems.
- Experience designing test instrumentation systems and reviewing electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with test stakeholders; self-motivated with good prioritization; ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance (as applicable).
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Environmental acceptance and qualification testing experience.
- Experience developing test system software and full data acquisition life cycle (instrumentation selection to data processing).
- RF testing experience (RF transmitters, GPS, RF cabling, antennas) and EMC testing per MIL-STD-461 or similar.
- Knowledge of RCC-319-19, DO-160, SMC-S-16 or similar standards.
- Experience with NI cRIO/cDAQ data collection and test automation; Curtiss-Wright KAM-500 DAS and IADS data processing software.
- Digital test procedures development; CAD tools (SolidWorks or CAD) and wiring software (Capital, Zuken).
- Proficiency in Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB; Git; command line and scripting. Nice to Have
- Additional hands-on experience with test rig development, wiring harness design and integration in aerospace systems. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: approximately $101,000 - $158,000 per year (level-dependent).
