About this role

About the Role Stratolaunch is seeking a Test Engineer II or Senior to support the environmental test team. This role involves environmental and functional testing of components that contribute to the Talon air-launched hypersonic vehicle programs, handling test planning, execution, failure analysis, and validation with a focus on avionics components. The position includes coordinating, scheduling, and testing a broad range of components across ground and flight test activities. What You'll Do

  • Create environmental test plans, procedures, and reports to satisfy internal and external test requirements
  • Participate in environmental tests, both onsite and offsite
  • Support test execution via scheduling and travel to test houses, as required
  • Contribute to and perform failure analysis and generate recovery plans for test failures
  • Maintain and operate environmental test equipment such as vibration tables and thermal chambers
  • Design new environmental test instrumentation systems and support its operation
  • Support operations of existing environmental test instrumentation systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of test and environmental standards such as DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, etc. What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, software engineering, avionics, experimental aircraft and/or launch vehicle integration; 2-5 years for Level II or 5-10 years for Sr-level
  • Fundamental knowledge of environmental component level tests
  • Experience integrating launch vehicle or aircraft electrical systems
  • Experience or knowledge of designing test instrumentation systems
  • Experience reviewing electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Strong communication skills to share technical challenges with test stakeholders
  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritize tasks to fit business goals and schedule
  • Experience with complex aerospace system development; ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance Nice to Have
  • Environmental acceptance and qualification testing experience
  • Experience developing test system software
  • Data acquisition lifecycle experience from instrumentation selection to data processing
  • RF components testing (RF transmitters, GPS systems, RF cabling, RF antennas)
  • EMC testing per MIL-STD-461 or similar; RCC-319-19, DO-160, SMC-S-16 or similar
  • Experience with NI cRIO, cDAQ platforms; Curtiss-Wright KAM-500 DAS and IADS software
  • Developing digital test procedures
  • SolidWorks or CAD software experience; Capital, Zuken or similar electrical wiring software
  • Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB proficiency; Git, JIRA; command line and scripting Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary ranges: Level II $101,000–$146,500 or Sr-level $120,500–$158,000 (base salary and leveling established case-by-case)
