Test & Commissioning Engineer

About the Role Take on a new challenge and apply your engineering expertise in a cutting-edge field within the rail domain. You’ll ensure onboard systems meet safety and performance standards before handover to operations, helping to improve reliability and safety of rail transportation. What You'll Do

• Lead validation and integration testing of signaling, control, communications, and onboard subsystems
• Troubleshoot system integration issues and coordinate with design/development teams to resolve root causes
• Oversee commissioning phases, ensuring correct configuration and performance under real-world scenarios
• Document results, track nonconformities (NCRs), propose corrective actions, and capture lessons learned (REX)
• Enforce safety, environmental, and quality standards at all times
• Deploy and maintain T&C processes and methods aligned with Alstom standards and project requirements
• Execute functional, integration, and system-level tests of onboard systems according to approved test plans
• Record, analyze, and interpret test results while identifying deviations or anomalies and driving resolution
• Plan and coordinate commissioning with engineering, operations, and maintenance stakeholders
• Mentor and develop junior T&C engineers What We're Looking For
• Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Experience or understanding of testing and commissioning in rail or transportation systems
• Knowledge of railway signaling, onboard systems (e.g., ATC, TCMS, communication protocols), and control systems
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and software diagnostic tools
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical thinking and root‑cause analysis capabilities
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues and integrate subsystems
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays when needed
• Willingness to travel for short‑ or long‑term assignments across locations or countries
• Proactive mindset with the ability to adapt to dynamic environments and shifting priorities Nice to Have
