Job title: Territory Account Manager (Northeast)
About the Role Vertex's field teams play an important role in helping healthcare customers navigate complex environments and improve access to innovative therapies for patients with serious diseases. As a Territory Account Manager for the Northeast, you will build relationships with healthcare providers and payers, engage in strategic selling, and manage complex accounts to drive access to Vertex therapies. This role is part of Vertex’s ongoing efforts to grow its sales organization and partnerships.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute territory business plans to meet or exceed sales targets in the Northeast region.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, administrators, and payers; identify key stakeholders and understand their needs.
- Manage multi-channel sales cycles, articulate clinical and economic value, and navigate reimbursement processes to secure patient access.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (market access, medical affairs, and field clinical specialists) to ensure customer success and seamless access.
- Analyze market dynamics, payer policies, and competitive activity to optimize strategy and messaging.
- Travel within the Northeast region as required to support customers and events.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) required; 3+ years of field-based life sciences or pharmaceutical sales experience with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
- Strong strategic selling, account management, and stakeholder engagement skills; ability to build trusted partnerships with clinicians, administrators, and payers.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate clinical and economic data into compelling value propositions.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex healthcare environments, payer requirements, and access barriers.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team; comfortable with travel.
Nice to Have
- Experience in market access or payer negotiations and Northeast payer landscape knowledge.
- MBA or advanced degree.
- Prior experience with Vertex products or specialty pharmaceutical environments.
