Tenure Track Assistant Professor Position in Clinical Psychology, Developmental Focus with an Emphasis on Black/African American Communities

About the Role This is a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Clinical Psychology with a developmental focus and an emphasis on Black/African American communities. The faculty member will teach and mentor students in the undergraduate psychology major and the clinical psychology PhD program, and contribute to research, teaching, and service in the department and broader community. What You'll Do

• Teach and mentor students in the undergraduate psychology major and the clinical psychology PhD program (scientist-practitioner-activist training model).
• Demonstrate ability to teach at least one graduate-level assessment course (preferred).
• Maintain a typical 2-2 teaching load across undergraduate and graduate classes, including core/elective graduate courses such as Child Therapy, Foundations of Social Justice in Clinical Psychology, Family Therapy, Graduate Research Methods, and other courses aligned with area of expertise; undergraduate courses may include Infancy and Childhood Development, Adolescence, Psychology and the Black Experience, The Family and the Child, Psychology and Social Justice; opportunities to develop new courses.
• Provide personalized learning opportunities, research mentoring, and advising to undergraduate and doctoral students; contribute to service for the program, department, university, and Greater Boston communities. What We're Looking For
• Ph.D. in clinical psychology or a closely related field by August 31, 2027; clear evidence of excellence in (or potential for excellence in) both research and teaching.
• Preference for licensed or license-eligible applicants with doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology or related licensable fields (e.g., Counseling, School Psychology).
• Demonstrated potential to contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and mentoring. Nice to Have
• Ability to teach at least one graduate-level assessment course (secondary priority). Compensation & Benefits
• Salary range: $80,000 - $91,740; benefits and professional development opportunities typical of the UMass Boston academic setting.
