About the Role The Syracuse University Speech Production Lab is seeking a part-time, hourly ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist to support an NIH-funded clinical trial. The role involves assessment and treatment of school-age children (9–17) with residual speech sound disorders (misarticulations of /r/ and /s/), using evidence-based protocols in home or community settings. Availability in after-school hours is required. What You'll Do
- Assist with assessment and treatment of school-age children with residual speech sound disorders (misarticulations of /r/ and /s/).
- Follow research protocols for assessment and treatment using Speech Motor Chaining; apply evidence-based approaches.
- Deliver sessions at children's homes or public locations (e.g., library) with a schedule of two 1-hour sessions per week for 8 weeks or an alternative intensive schedule: two 2-hour sessions in week 1, three 1-hour visits in weeks 2–3, and two 1-hour visits in week 4.
- Travel to sessions; mileage reimbursed; allow pre/post session work up to 1 hour per session.
- Treat one participant at a time; aim to treat approximately 4-5 participants per year.
- Availability after school hours (approximately 3:00-6:00 pm) and coordination with research team. What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and NY state licensure in SLP.
- ASHA-certified SLP (CCC-SLP).
- Experience working with children with speech sound disorders.
- Knowledge of evidence-based treatment approaches and Speech Motor Chaining.
- Ability to deliver services in home or public settings and travel to sessions; comfortable with research protocols and two-condition trial designs. Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $41.00 - $45.00 per hour (hourly).
- Mileage reimbursement for travel to sessions.
- Part-time, hourly position; 4-8 hours per week; after-school availability.
- Location: Syracuse, NY; on-campus position with regular in-person presence.
