Job title: Temporary Janitor
Temporary Janitor on Syracuse University's Facilities Services supports heavy cleaning in offices, classrooms, public areas and restrooms on campus. The role requires following established procedures and working in-person on campus with various shift options.
What You'll Do
- Sweep, vacuum and wet mop floors.
- Wash walls, light fixtures, blackboards and windows.
- Collect trash and remove to dumpster.
- Move furniture.
- Obtain and replenish cleaning supplies, paper products, etc.
- May shovel snow in winter.
- Operate a variety of equipment including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, spray tanks, autoscrubbers, etc.
- Use broom, dust mop, and wet mop; work from stepladders when needed.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to read, write and follow instructions.
- May be required to shovel snow in winter.
- Physically capable of standing for long periods and performing heavy cleaning tasks; able to bend, stoop, twist, and lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 70 pounds; comfortable operating cleaning equipment.
- Availability to work various shifts on campus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $20.00 per hour (on-campus temporary position).
