Job title: Temporary Employee – (TEO)
About the Role Under the direction of the Director of Organizing and Member Engagement, as well as the Member Outreach Manager and Regional Manager, the Temporary Organizer drives the organizing and field plan of the Local Union. This is a temporary, non-exempt position focused on member engagement and building union capacity for campaigns at the local, statewide and national levels.
What You'll Do
- Develop organizing skills of member organizers.
- Identify, recruit, train, and develop union leaders.
- Assist the Department in developing and executing plans for campaigns, including but not limited to, budget issues, contract negotiations, worker safety, etc.
- Develop various communication systems to effectively reach members and providers.
- Work to build coalitions with community groups and organizations.
- Maintain work files and comply with administrative reporting.
- Mobilize, turnout and engage membership.
- Union membership meetings, recruitment and PEOPLE fundraising.
- Mobilize workers around worksite issues, politics, public policy, and other issues affecting the lives of workers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Assignment Responsibilities
- Recruitment and Outreach: Organize and conduct informational sessions during the recruitment phase.
- Actively engage members of the private care sector during these sessions to raise awareness and interest in cooperative.
- Recruit the first cohort of 12 participants.
- To ensure full enrollment, outreach efforts should aim to invite 15–20 individuals to participate in the recruitment process.
- Follow-Up Support: Provide 1:1 follow-up support to individuals who attend the info sessions, with a focus on assisting them.

- Ability to recruit, train, and develop union leaders; develop and execute campaigns (budget issues, contract negotiations, worker safety).
- Strong communication skills and ability to develop and implement multiple communication systems to reach members and providers.
- Ability to build coalitions with community groups and organizations.
- Willingness to maintain work files and comply with administrative reporting.
Nice to Have
- Experience recruiting and outreach in the private care sector.
- Experience conducting informational sessions and outreach to recruit participants.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly rate: $23.00 per hour. This is a non-exempt temporary position with scheduling not to exceed 29 hours per week.
