Job title: Temporary Computer Consultant I
About the Role The Computer Consultant I in ITS provides IT support to over 170 administrative users across departments, including desktop, laptop, smartphone, tablet, and application support. The role also involves evaluating technology procurement needs and collaborating on IT projects while supporting campus-based users in person.
What You'll Do
- Provide IT support for hardware, software, and mobile devices (desktop, laptop, smartphone, tablet) and assist with application support.
- Prioritize and manage incoming support tickets, coordinate with users, and provide cross-unit support as requested by supervisor.
- Maintain accurate and timely incident logs in the approved ticket management system.
- Work on IT projects collaboratively and support procurement recommendations for staff technology.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent; one (1) year plus relevant experience in information technologies/computer science.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Moderate understanding of networking, IT hardware/software/OS interactions, printers, and mobile computing platforms.
- Familiarity with AI tools and platforms (e.g., generative AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) and AI-enhanced support and automation tools.
- Ability to work on-campus with regular in-person presence; strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have
- Additional experience with AI-enabled support tools and automation is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour. This position is on-campus with standard university business hours: 8:30am – 5:00pm (academic year) or 8:00am – 4:30pm (summer). Remote work arrangements are limited in accordance with University policy.
