Telehandler / Forklift Operator – Structural Steel Yard
Location: Cocoa Beach, FL Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Shift: 1st Shift Starting Pay: $22.00/hour; higher pay may be available depending on experience, up to $25.00/hour.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Telehandler / Forklift Operator to move, organize, and stage structural steel materials in a fabrication yard. This role supports production and shipping by ensuring steel components are handled safely and delivered to the correct locations.
Responsibilities

Operate telehandlers and forklifts to move, stage, and load or unload structural steel, including I-beams, columns, plates, and fabricated components.

Organize yard inventory and stage materials for fabrication, shipping, and erection schedules.

Read shop drawings, pick lists, and material tags to identify steel components accurately.

Load trucks, secure materials, and coordinate with drivers and shop personnel.

Complete routine equipment inspections, perform basic maintenance, and report mechanical or safety concerns.

Follow OSHA safety standards, proper rigging procedures, and safe material-handling practices.
Qualifications

Experience operating telehandlers, forklifts, or similar heavy equipment in a steel yard or construction setting.

Ability to handle large structural steel members safely.

Basic blueprint, shop drawing, or material tag reading skills preferred.

Knowledge of rigging, load balancing, and safe lifting practices.

Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and lift 50+ lbs as needed.

Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
