About the Role The Telecommunicator answers emergency medical calls and uses radio, telephone, and computer systems to obtain, document, and transmit essential information to emergency response personnel. This position requires a high level of accuracy, clear and composed communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to ensure timely and effective support of emergency medical operations. What You'll Do
- Receives and processes emergency medical calls and dispatches EMS units in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Utilizes the Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) to obtain critical information and determine appropriate response levels.
- Provides medical pre-arrival instructions to callers.
- Maintains documentation and communications to coordinate responders. What We're Looking For
- High school diploma/GED, 1 year telecommunicator experience, AEMD and CPR (or ability to obtain), NIMS ICS courses within 6 months, 35 WPM typing, valid Texas driver’s license.
- This role is designated as a Safety Sensitive position and is subject to frequent drug testing; reporting of high-risk medications required; regular attendance essential.
- Ability to work in a high-stress environment with exposure to traumatic and graphic incidents.
