Job title: Technischer Entwicklungsingenieur – Opto- und Optroniksysteme
Description: As part of Diehl's team, you will take technical responsibility for the development of complex technologically advanced and optronic systems. You will assess the feasibility of system requirements and develop concepts within design studies. You will also run simulations for rough and fine analyses and oversee system integration and metrological evaluation. You will act as the point of contact for internal and external project partners and coordinate with suppliers, and you will identify, test, and evaluate sensor technologies in research and technology projects.
Responsibilities:
- Assume technical responsibility for the development of complex technological and optronic systems.
- Perform feasibility assessments of system requirements and develop concepts in design studies.
- Conduct simulations for coarse- and fine-grained analyses and oversee integration and metrological assessment of the systems.
- Serve as the contact person for internal and external project partners and coordinate for suppliers.
- Identify, test, and evaluate sensor technologies within research and technology projects.
Requirements:
- Completed Master’s/ Diploma in experimental physics or electrical engineering with a focus on optics, detector- or semiconductor technology or a comparable field; a PhD is a plus.
- Ideally some professional experience and demonstrated strengths in sensor technology, electronics, photonically integrated circuits (PICs), quantum physics or optics.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Matlab or C; lab automation tools such as LabVIEW or Python; and in optical simulation methods such as Zemax OpticStudio.
- Experience working with international and interdisciplinary project teams; strong presentation and communication skills.
- Open to electro-optical technologies and complex technical questions; goal-oriented and team-oriented.
