About the Role The purpose of this position is to maintain, service and repair material handling equipment, systems and products on company premises or at customer sites in a timely and cost-effective manner so that customer and company requirements are met; maintaining vehicle records.
What You'll Do
- Servicing of material handling equipment and maintaining forklift serviceability to specified standards and procedures by delivering quality service/maintenance.
- Perform accurate diagnosis/troubleshooting in event of equipment breakdown; communicate what repairs are needed by advising customer and/or supervisor.
- Maintain vehicle maintenance and operational data/history by updating and timeously communicating information that must go on record.
- Promote service/maintenance programs and provide complete customer satisfaction in a polite and professional manner.
- Ensure proper communication between self, workshop staff and customer.
- Ensure OHSACT & ASEC requirements are met in all actions on company and client premises; maintain a safe work environment by verifying vehicle safety device operations, following standards and procedures and in general complying with legal regulation.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Read and interpret schematics, diagrams, operations manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications; utilise diagnostic equipment and tools.
- Demonstrate ability to work with little supervision, self-motivation, and ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
What We're Looking For
- Trade test certificate; Diesel / Auto Electrician / Forklift Technician; required certificates, licences, registrations.
- Code 8 driver's licence and valid forklift operator licence.
- General working knowledge of auto electrical systems; ability to diagnose and troubleshoot.
- Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written); able to converse fluently with people at all levels.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, operations manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications.
- Proactive, honest, reliable, hardworking with a strong work ethic; good prioritising and multi-tasking skills; problem solving and decision-making ability.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, under pressure and as part of a team; safety-conscious and able to follow safety measures.
- Willingness to continue learning and growing with new technology and models; self-motivated and able to use own initiative.
- Applicant criteria: Education level 2 - Certificate; Experience level 4 to 6 years; Languages: English (Professional).
