About the Role Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Full-Time Technician I for Bayside State Prison in Leesburg, NJ. The Technician I participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the prison, supporting patient care and the daily operations of the Health Service Unit. What You'll Do
- Take vital signs, height and weight, and document results in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Assist the physician/advanced practitioner with procedures, including preparing the inmate for the examination.
- Obtain specimen collection and handling, including drawing blood.
- Assist with the cleaning, sterilization, and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit.
- Maintain or assist in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering supplies in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Maintain supply stock in the examination room. What We're Looking For
- Ability to take vital signs and record data in EMR.
- Ability to assist with procedures and patient preparation for examinations.
- Experience with specimen collection and handling, including phlebotomy/drawing blood.
- Knowledge of instrument cleaning, sterilization, and infection control.
- Strong organizational skills to manage supply inventory and ordering.
- Willingness to work in a correctional health care environment.
