Technician B

About the Role The department is seeking a motivated Technician B to support Stem Cell Regenerative Medicine research focused on inherited dystrophies leading to blindness (e.g., retinitis pigmentosa, age-related macular degeneration, Stargardt disease). The role includes administrative and writing tasks for the PI, manuscript editing and IRB/IACUC management, phenotype analysis of patients with known DNA mutations, and testing the efficacy of stem cell transplantation and gene therapy. What You'll Do

• Perform patient-specific stem cell disease modeling and assist with laboratory management (ordering equipment, reagents, chemicals, animals, and general supplies).
• Maintain equipment for histology, immunohistochemistry, and light/fluorescent microscopy.
• Manage mouse colonies and record keeping.
• Under the supervision of the PI, assist with budgets and manage laboratory financial resources.
• Perform administrative duties related to manuscripts and grant applications; assist with preparing manuscripts/grant applications.
• Compose clinical research reports; teach and train laboratory technicians and students.
• Perform any other duties assigned. What We're Looking For
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or physics or related science, or equivalent education/experience.
• Excellent communication and writing skills; ability to work effectively with minimal supervision; computer skills required.
• Preferred qualifications include prior experience in a research laboratory, experience with grant applications, project execution, and manuscript preparation.
• Broad knowledge of molecular biology methods including tissue culture (cell line, primary cell, stem cell), mouse handling/modeling (transgene/knock-in/knock-out), and gene therapy/editing techniques (CRISPR, TALEN, Zinc finger) in vitro and in vivo. Nice to Have
• Prior experience in tissue culture, mouse model creation, and gene therapy/editing techniques.
• Experience with manuscript preparation and grant writing; familiarity with IRB/IACUC processes.
• Broad knowledge of molecular biology methods across fundamental to advanced technologies. Compensation & Benefits
• Salary range: $54,462.05 per year for a full-time position. Final salary will reflect budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, and training.
