About the Role Stratolaunch is seeking a Technical Writer to develop, manage, and publish technical, engineering, maintenance, and operational documents supporting Mission Operations and related disciplines. The role focuses on producing accurate, clear, and compliant documents for use in a fast-paced environment, while migrating and maintaining procedures in Epsilon3 and coordinating with technical publication stakeholders. What You'll Do
- Proactively support Mission Ops, Engineering and Maintenance by complying with industry best practices and government requirements to produce accurate and safe documents.
- Create technical, engineering, maintenance documentation, system descriptions, procedures, training materials, operational manuals, and reports.
- Review documents with Subject Matter Experts and incorporate updates as requested.
- Interface with Technical Publications Customers to ensure requirements are met and program modifications are understood and communicated to the team.
- Support Mission Operations with Epsilon3, migrate existing procedures to Epsilon3, and author, edit, approve, and release new Epsilon3 procedures.
- Ensure ITAR and other regulatory compliance in document marking, storage, and distribution.
- Develop documents using Word, FrameMaker, Arbortext Editor, and other tools; train staff on relevant tools, systems, and processes.
- Deliver documents in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders; manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Create user-focused documents and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills. What We're Looking For
- REQUIRED: 5+ years’ experience with documentation publishing and/or management software; excellent organization and multi-tasking skills; meticulous attention to detail; ability to work autonomously and prioritize tasks to meet business goals.
- PREFERRED: Experience producing technical aerospace/defense documents; 2+ years’ experience with S1000D; 2+ years’ experience with hypertext internal documentation processes; experience with Jira, Epsilon3, and SharePoint; XML structured authoring tools.
- REQUIRED COMPUTER SKILLS: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio); FrameMaker; professional document creation and management tools. Nice to Have
- S1000D experience and familiarity with hypertext documentation workflows.
- Experience with Jira, Epsilon3, SharePoint, and XML-based authoring approaches. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary ranges for the role: Technical Writer $52,000–$84,700 per year; Sr. Technical Writer $65,000–$105,800; Lead Technical Writer $80,000–$128,700 (these reflect the range based on level).
- Benefits include: 9/80 schedule, healthcare (medical, dental, vision, prescription drugs), paid maternity and parental leave, 50% company match into 401(k) up to $11,500, and tuition reimbursement.
- Location: Mojave, CA; fully on-site preferred but hybrid arrangements (~75% on-site) considered for well-qualified candidates. Travel ~5% as needed.
