Job Description

Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

• Provide technical guidance and support to workshop technicians and maintenance personnel.
• Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, electronic and hydraulic faults.
• Provide technical assistance for difficult or recurring vehicle and equipment problems.
• Review diagnostic reports and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Support technicians in the use of diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
• Escalate major or unresolved technical issues to manufacturers, dealers or specialist service providers where necessary.

Fleet and Vehicle Maintenance:

• Support preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for trucks and fleet vehicles.
• Monitor vehicle maintenance activities to ensure repairs are completed correctly and within agreed timelines.
• Review recurring vehicle faults and recommend permanent corrective measures.
• Assist in developing maintenance strategies to improve vehicle reliability and reduce downtime.
• Ensure that maintenance activities comply with manufacturer specifications and company procedures.

Workshop Technical Supervision:

• Work closely with the Workshop Manager and supervisors to coordinate technical activities.
• Monitor the quality of repairs and maintenance performed by technicians.
• Provide technical direction during major engine, transmission, braking, electrical and other repairs.
• Inspect completed repairs and confirm that vehicles are safe and fit for service.
• Assist in identifying training and development needs among technical staff.

Diagnostics and Technical Analysis:

• Analyse diagnostic data, fault codes and vehicle performance information.
• Investigate repeated breakdowns and conduct root-cause analysis.
• Maintain records of technical faults, repairs and corrective actions.
• Identify trends in vehicle failures and recommend preventive measures.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of diagnostic tools and technical equipment.

Quality Assurance:

• Ensure repairs meet required technical and quality standards.
• Conduct or coordinate quality inspections after major repairs.
• Ensure that technicians follow approved repair procedures.
• Minimise repeat repairs, comebacks and unnecessary replacement of parts.
• Support the implementation of quality control procedures within the workshop.

Technical Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate technical records and maintenance reports.
• Prepare reports on recurring faults, major repairs, vehicle downtime and technical performance.
• Review work orders and technical reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain updated technical manuals, service information and equipment documentation.
• Provide management with recommendations based on technical findings and maintenance data.
