About this role
About the Role We are seeking a technically strong and commercially driven Technical Salesperson to support Solaris' expansion across the East Coast public transit market. This hybrid role blends technical sales, tender leadership, and early project support, with responsibility for shaping opportunities and leading selected tenders end-to-end while aiding early-stage contract execution. The role offers a path to grow into a full commercial leader, combining engineering insight with direct sales exposure. What You'll Do
- Lead and support direct customer interactions with transit agencies, delivering product presentations and demonstrations, conducting technical workshops and specification discussions, site visits and depot walkthroughs; translate customer needs into technical solutions and align requirements with product capabilities; clearly communicate value proposition (range, reliability, lifecycle cost, performance); build relationships with both technical and procurement stakeholders
- Act as Tender Captain for selected opportunities, owning bid success end-to-end; manage 3–4 tenders in parallel including initial qualification and go/no-go input, bid strategy definition, coordination of internal stakeholders (engineering, pricing, legal, aftersales), and primary interface with the customer during the tender process; manage RfP clarification (Q&A), negotiations, and final offer alignment; make or recommend key trade-offs (customization vs standardization, compliance vs competitiveness)
- Prepare and contribute to tender documentation and bidding activities, supporting early-stage contract execution as needed What We're Looking For
- Technically strong with engineering understanding and the ability to translate customer needs into technically viable solutions, while communicating commercial value (range, reliability, lifecycle cost, performance)
- Commercially minded with proven tender leadership experience, capable of owning 3–4 tenders in parallel and coordinating cross-functional teams (engineering, pricing, legal, aftersales)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and procurement stakeholders and build lasting relationships
- Experience engaging with transit agencies or public sector procurement processes; comfortable navigating RfP processes and customer negotiations
- Demonstrated potential to grow into a broader commercial leadership role, combining product knowledge with sales responsibility
