About this role

About the Role We are seeking a technically strong and commercially driven Technical Salesperson to support Solaris expansion across the West Coast public transit market. This hybrid role combines technical sales, tender leadership, and early project support, with opportunities to grow into a full commercial leadership role over time. What You'll Do

  • Lead and support direct customer interactions with transit agencies, combining technical expertise with commercial messaging; conduct product presentations and demonstrations; run technical workshops; site visits, depot walkthroughs, and roadshows; translate customer needs into technical solutions and clearly communicate value proposition; build relationships with technical and procurement stakeholders.
  • Act as Tender Captain for selected opportunities, owning bid success end-to-end; lead 3–4 tenders in parallel; initial qualification and go/no-go input; bid strategy; coordination of internal stakeholders; primary interface with the customer; manage RfP clarifications, negotiations, and final offer alignment; advise on trade-offs between customization vs. standardization and compliance vs. competitiveness.
  • Tender Preparation & Bidding Support: Prepare and contribute to tender content, including RfP deviations; work with the Bidding Office to ensure full RfP compliance and high-quality, timely submissions; support internal strategy and review meetings for each tender.
  • Tender Shaping & Pipeline Support: Support early-stage tender shaping activities; engage with agencies to understand upcoming procurement plans; influence specifications toward Solaris strengths; identify technical risks, dealbreakers, and required adaptations; prioritize opportunities with Sales leadership.
  • Early Contract & Project Support: Support transition from bid to contract execution; serve as technical point of contact during early contract clarification and kickoff discussions; ensure alignment between offer commitments and delivery capabilities; handover to project and aftersales teams.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the link between Sales, Engineering, and Operations; coordinate with Product development, Supply chain, After-sales and service teams; ensure customer expectations are feasible and internally aligned.
  • Travel & Onsite Engagement: Travel 50–70% across California, Oregon, and Washington; frequent in-person meetings with transit agencies; customer meetings, demonstrations, roadshows, tender discussions and negotiations; onboarding at Poland HQ for initial product/process knowledge. What We're Looking For
  • 3–8 years of experience in technical sales, application engineering, or product engineering; automotive, commercial vehicles, or heavy equipment preferred; experience with tenders/RFP processes is a strong plus; early-career candidates with strong potential encouraged.
  • Technical skills: solid understanding of vehicle systems (electric drivetrains, batteries, charging) and mechanical/electrical engineering fundamentals; ability to work with technical specifications, engineering documentation, and system descriptions.
  • Commercial & Interpersonal: Strong communication and presentation skills; client-facing; ability to balance technical depth with sales mindset; comfortable building relationships with customers; structured and detail-oriented under tender timelines.
  • Mindset & Growth Potential: Ambitious, proactive, hands-on; able to manage multiple parallel workstreams; strong ownership mindset; motivated to grow into full sales/commercial ownership.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive Engineering or similar.
