Technical Ops & Enablement

LatchBio
San Francisco, USA Posted Oct 13, 2026
Full-timeOn-site

About this role

Technical Ops & Enablement Engineer

At LatchBio, we're building AI agents that help thousands of scientists analyze and interpret data from the next generation of spatial and multi-omic tools in biotech. Each of our agents can store terabytes of data, visualize millions of cells, and orchestrate hundreds of computers towards bio-computational ends. Teams at pharmaceutical, biotech, and solution provider companies trust and rely on our technology to enhance, inform, and deliver the future generations of biological products.

We introduced SpatialBench, the first benchmark suite for spatial biology agents — 146 verifiable problems drawn from real analysis workflows across five platforms. Our findings show that harness design — the tools, prompts, and control flow around a model — moves outcomes as much as swapping the base model itself. We have subsequently released scBench, and are working on benchmarks and benchmarking infrastructure for 10s more important areas of biology.

Role Overview.

Hundreds of scientists build our benchmarks on Latch's internal evaluation platform, and you'll be the engineer who makes sure that platform works for them. This is a hybrid product, operations, and engineering role. You'll own technical onboarding for new bioengineers, triage and fix bugs, write the docs, and run beta tests on new features before they reach the full scientist team. You'll also track whether features are being adopted and bring what you learn back to product and engineering. If you like writing code and like working directly with the people who use it, this role is for you.

What you’ll do.

  • Own the technical enablement lifecycle for work trials, contractors, hires, and departures. Provision everything someone needs on day one, and revoke all of it reliably when they leave.

  • Identity and access. Administer Google Workspace, GitHub, Slack, AWS/GCP, VPN, internal systems, and SaaS accounts. Manage groups, permissions, and SSO/SCIM, and run periodic access reviews.

  • Engineering SaaS. Manage seats, licenses, admin consoles, and renewals, and keep track of who needs what.

  • Automation. Build workflows that take the manual toil out of common business processes so engineers can stay focused on building.

  • Security and compliance. Enforce device policies, MFA, and least-privilege access. Run offboarding checks and access audits, and collect compliance evidence.

  • Platform support. Own bug channels. Investigate issues, fix what you can, escalate to engineering with clear context when needed, and keep scientists updated until each issue is resolved.

  • Enablement and training. Make sure every new bioengineer can confidently use the platform within their first week. Partner with engineering on training sessions and Q&As when features ship, run beta programs with early testers, and track adoption so product and engineering hear what’s getting in scientists’ way.

  • Documentation and process. Keep feature documentation up to date and refine processes for efficient communication across a large team.

What you bring.

  • IT and systems experience. 2+ years in IT, systems administration, or IT/eng ops at a fast-moving tech company. Hands-on with Google Workspace admin, an MDM (Jamf, Kandji, or similar), and an identity provider with SSO/SCIM.

  • AI Native. Understand how to automate systems with AI and when not to. Keep up to date on the frontier of possibility and improve our automations.

  • Scripting and automation. Comfortable with Python, Bash, and similar, plus AI and workflow tools. If you’ve done a task twice, you’re already thinking about automating it.

  • Engineering fluency. Working knowledge of AWS/GCP IAM and GitHub org admin, and enough engineering ability to read code, reproduce a bug, and ship small fixes.

  • Security mindset. You default to least privilege, can conduct strong access reviews, and have helped collect compliance evidence (SOC 2 or similar is a plus).

  • Clear communicator. You write docs people actually read and can train non-engineers to use technical products.

  • Bonus: scientific background. Experience in biology, bioinformatics, or a lab setting, or prior work in support or solutions engineering for a technical product.

How we work

We are extremely tied to the truth. We care about output and are flexible enough to let people optimize their work in a way that works for them. Our entire engineering team is in-person in San Francisco. We run a daily scrum where engineers talk through technical challenges and stay aligned on what matters most.

No dedicated frontend, backend, or DBA roles. You own a product area and execute in your own style. Mentorship happens through code review and working through hard problems together — not top-down instruction.

If you want to work on the most interesting and intellectually challenging engineering problems of your career — on work that actually matters — we are the right team for you.
