We are seeking an exceptional Technical Director - Building Services to join our Buildings team in Singapore. This is a strategic leadership role for an experienced professional who combines technical excellence, commercial acumen and people leadership to deliver some of the region's most complex and high-profile developments.

Working across commercial, healthcare, aviation, industrial, mission critical, transport and institutional sectors, you will play a key role in shaping projects, developing teams, strengthening client relationships and growing our Buildings business across Singapore and the wider Asia region.

The Opportunity As Technical Director, you will provide leadership across project delivery, technical governance, people development and business growth. You will be responsible for ensuring excellence in design, quality, commercial performance and client satisfaction while developing the capability and reputation of our Buildings team.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership & Project Delivery

• Lead the delivery of major and complex multidisciplinary building projects from concept through to completion.

• Provide technical leadership and oversight across electrical and integrated MEP designs.

• Ensure projects achieve the highest standards of quality, safety, sustainability and digital delivery.

• Champion innovation and technical excellence, driving the adoption of emerging technologies, modern methods of design and engineering best practice.

• Lead technical reviews, quality assurance processes and risk management activities across projects.

• Provide expert technical guidance to project teams and clients on complex engineering challenges.

• People Leadership & Capability Development

• Lead, mentor and develop high-performing engineering teams.

• Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, wellbeing and continuous improvement.

• Support succession planning and the development of future technical and business leaders.

• Identify capability gaps and training needs, implementing development initiatives to strengthen team performance.

• Promote knowledge sharing and collaboration across local, regional and global teams.

• Client Leadership & Business Development

• Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key clients, stakeholders and industry partners.

• Act as a senior point of contact for major clients and strategic project opportunities.

• Lead work-winning activities, including client engagement, bid strategy, proposal development and presentations.

• Support contract negotiations, commercial discussions and project governance activities.

• Represent Mott MacDonald at industry forums, professional institutions and market-facing events.

• Business & Commercial Leadership

• Contribute to the strategic growth and positioning of the Buildings business in Singapore and Asia.

• Support business planning, resource management and recruitment initiatives.

• Monitor project performance, ensuring effective management of programme, risk, profitability and client outcomes.

• Drive continuous improvement across technical standards, delivery processes and lessons learned.

• Collaborate with regional and global leadership teams to identify and pursue growth opportunities.

• About You

• You are an established technical leader with a proven record of delivering complex projects while building strong teams and long-term client relationships.

You will ideally have:

• Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

• Professional Engineer (registration with the Professional Engineers Board Singapore and/or Chartered Engineer status.

• 15+ years' experience within a consulting engineering environment, including leadership of major multidisciplinary projects.

• Strong expertise in building electrical services design and delivery across complex developments.

• Experience acting as Qualified Person (QP), Project Director and/or Project Manager for significant projects.

• Demonstrated success leading and developing engineering teams.

• Strong commercial awareness, including project performance, fee management and risk mitigation.

• Proven ability to win work and build trusted client relationships.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and presentation skills.

• Passion for sustainability, digital transformation and technical innovation.

• Experience across sectors such as commercial, healthcare, aviation, industrial, mission critical/data centres, transport or mixed-use developments would be highly regarded.
