Technical Assistant to the State Infrastructure Engineer
Under the overall supervision of the State Infrastructure Engineer, the Technical Assistant shall primarily support the SIE on:
- Rural and farm access roads.
- Market infrastructure and civil works.
- Drainage and stormwater management.
- Boreholes and water-supply infrastructure.
- Buildings and structural works.
- Electrical/solar infrastructure associated with civil projects.
- Civil engineering designs and drawings.
- BOQ/BEME and quantity verification.
- Construction supervision and quality control.
- Contractor performance and contract administration.
- Testing, commissioning and completion of infrastructure.
- Technical assessment of variations, claims and extensions of time.
Qualifications and Experience Required
The candidate shall possess:
- A Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or another relevant engineering/construction-related discipline from a recognised institution.
- Relevant professional registration or membership of a recognised professional body will be an advantage.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant post-qualification experience in infrastructure development, construction supervision, engineering consultancy, contract administration or related fields.
- Demonstrable experience in construction/site supervision and preparation of technical reports.
- Good knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, BOQs/BEMEs and construction methods.
- Experience in measurement and verification of construction works.
- Experience with government or donor-funded infrastructure projects will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and relevant engineering software will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of GPS/mobile field data collection applications will be an advantage.
- Ability and willingness to undertake frequent field visits within Ogun State.
- Excellent communication, report-writing and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
