About this role

About the Role You will design, develop and deliver technical animation systems, rigs and pipelines to drive high-quality character and gameplay motion for Flix’s internal projects and co-development partners. As part of the Animation team, you’ll apply technical skills and creativity to enhance immersion and player experience, collaborating across disciplines and taking feedback in technical reviews. What You'll Do

  • Design, develop and implement robust animation systems, rigs, tools and technical solutions enabling high-quality character, creature and gameplay motion from prototype to final implementation.
  • Follow animation style principles to ensure consistent content that aligns with game aesthetic, gameplay and narrative.
  • Actively participate in technical reviews, incorporating feedback to improve systems and content quality.
  • Follow technical animation pipeline best practices for rigging, implementation and optimization to meet visual quality standards and run smoothly on target platforms.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate across discipline teams to uphold quality and delivery requirements, while troubleshooting and refining systems for high-quality, performant results in-engine.
  • Work closely with Leads and Production to prioritize tasks, raise issues, and deliver high-quality work on time. What We're Looking For
  • Proven animation experience within games with a portfolio demonstrating understanding of animation tooling, pipeline and quality.
  • Good understanding of Unreal Engine animation pipeline (montages, animation blueprints, state machines, blend trees, animation modifiers).
  • Proficiency in rig creation and skinning in Maya or Blender.
  • Understanding of animation fundamentals: weight, timing, readability; how they inform rigging, tech implementation and animation systems.
  • Effective communication and collaboration; ability to work positively in a team; take critique and contribute in technical reviews.
  • Time management and end-to-end delivery capability.
  • Passion for gaming and delivering visually stunning experiences. Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of retargeting and motion matching pipelines.
  • Skills in tool creation and Python scripting.
  • Experience with Advanced Skeleton.
  • Experience with motion capture technology and editing/mocap data cleaning.
  • Experience with facial rigging.
  • Previous shipped title(s) within a relevant game art production pipeline.
