About the Role The role provides technical advisory across the region in part design, processing, tooling and materials to drive manufacturing excellence for BASF's Engineering Plastics business. It also supports optimization of product/material processing at customer locations and contributes to sales strategies and product development in China, with a focus on South China. What You'll Do
- Provide technical advisory in part design, processing, tooling and materials for customers in Engineering Plastics.
- Optimize product and material processing, troubleshoot at customer locations to achieve excellent part quality.
- Contribute to business development and planning, product/processing development and modification, and customer intimacy to support the implementation of sales strategies in China.
- Support Application Development and Product Launch initiatives in South China for Engineering Plastics together with the commercial team in Project Acquisition and Commercialization for sales growth.
- Drive project development to commercialization, participate in country/regional technical meetings, and maintain market development updates; track competitive technology and literature.
- Engage with key strategy accounts and customers to identify material needs and drive material development through phase gate or topic with Country TD, Regional TD, KAM and R&D.
- Support material validation in development projects through processing and part testing to close property gaps toward product success.
- Collaborate on product launches with Regional Tech Dev Team and support regional/global roadmaps for consumer electronics, new energy and automotive segments.
- Align with Marketing, Sales and Product Management to develop and execute regional/global product/segment strategies.
- Facilitate innovations and participate in events (e.g., Customer TechDays); promote new products and innovative solutions; organize technical presentations and seminars. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Polymer, Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5-8 years of experience in Engineering Plastics, preferably in sales, market development or application development, or related industries.
- Strong ability to identify opportunities or problems and formulate and implement strategy or actions.
- Strong in establishing and fostering customer relationships; solid sales and marketing background and business experience.
- Good conflict management and networking skills; proven track record of developing and executing commercial strategies.
- Good knowledge of Engineering Plastics; automotive industry knowledge is a plus. Nice to Have
- Automotive industry experience or knowledge is a plus.
