About the Role Join Sonoco as the Engineering Team Leader – Key Projects. You’ll lead a small, high-performing technology team focused on product and process development for our paper-based industrial products, guiding projects from inception through commercialization at Sonoco’s Hartsville, SC headquarters. What You'll Do
- Drive Innovation & Product Development: Partner with engineers, scientists, and project managers to design, test, and refine products and processes; work hands-on in R&D facilities; prototype and experiment; generate opportunities for growth; lead and mentor a team; manage the engineering budget for cost-effective solutions.
- Data Analytics & Project Execution: Lead with data using Python, Minitab, and Excel; identify productivity opportunities; own project lifecycles from conception to commercialization using Planner; provide clear, data-driven updates to leadership.
- Collaborate Across the Business: Work cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, Quality, and Marketing; build a deep technical understanding of Sonoco materials and products to fuel meaningful innovation. What We're Looking For
- Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering (or related technical field)
- Experience: Around 10 years of professional experience, with some people management
- Project Expertise: Proven track record in project management
- Technical Savvy: Knowledge of the paper industry is a bonus; a passion for innovation
- Collaborative Mindset: Thrives in a team setting and values creative problem-solving Nice to Have
- PMP, PMI, or PPM certifications are a significant plus
- Knowledge of the paper industry is a bonus Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $150,960 – $169,830 annually + target bonus of 12.5% of base salary
