About the role
The Team Lead Multimedia owns the development, implementation and day-to-day production leadership of the Multimedia function, ensuring the Multimedia Editor team delivers accurate, high-quality output to approved client and retailer briefs and agreed deadlines.
The role defines the Multimedia service offering and production categories, establishes briefing and intake requirements, and develops workable production flows with clear responsibilities, resource needs, capacity and quality standards. It works with the Studio Operations Lead to document and prepare approved workflows for operational handover.
The Team Lead Multimedia plans production, develops the Multimedia Editor team and introduces new Multimedia and AI-enabled production types through testing and validation into routine operations.
Role scope
- Lead the Multimedia Editor team, including workload, standards, onboarding and development.
- Own implementation of the Multimedia production flow, service definitions and readiness for routine operations.
- Develop and own daily and weekly scheduling, capacity planning and production coordination across Multimedia.
- Translate briefs into clear production instructions and agree responsibilities and handovers with related functions.
- Provide production time and resource estimates for planning.
- Act as the first escalation point for production blockers and report delivery, quality and implementation progress to the Head of Content.
- Own the development and implementation plan for the Multimedia production flow, including milestones, dependencies, responsible owners and readiness requirements.
- Define and maintain the approved Multimedia production categories and service catalogue, specifying the scope, inputs, outputs and acceptance criteria for each service.
- Establish standard briefing, intake, ticketing and prioritisation requirements. Record requests at intake, identify missing inputs and distinguish work ready for production from blocked requests.
- Agree and document responsibilities and handovers across Multimedia, Photography, Retouch, QA and Operations, including ownership of blockers, review steps and asset loading.
- Determine and test production times, resource requirements, capacity assumptions and production quality standards with the relevant teams.
- Determine labour, software, equipment, setup, review and external resource requirements through the agreed business process.
- Document approved workflows, production instructions, checklists and example outputs; train the people responsible for production and the related handovers.
- Prepare approved workflows for operational handover with named owners, confirmed capacity and QA validation. Monitor initial production and resolve implementation issues.
- Plan daily and weekly schedules and allocate work according to brief complexity, Editor skills, agreed priorities and available capacity.
- Translate approved client and retailer briefs into clear production instructions; confirm required inputs and resolve briefing gaps before production starts.
- Coordinate production milestones, internal reviews, client feedback and handovers with the relevant owners, keeping status and outstanding actions current in the agreed systems.
- Escalate scope changes, resourcing conflicts, technical problems and delivery risks early, with practical options to resolve them.
- Lead, coach and develop Multimedia Editors through regular check-ins, constructive feedback and performance reviews.
- Own onboarding and coordinate approved freelance or external production resources.
- Manage Multimedia software, hardware and equipment needs, maintain safe and orderly workspaces, and escalate resource requirements.
- Identify, pilot and implement new Multimedia and AI-enabled production types, coordinating testing and independent validation with QA before routine use.
- Maintain production standards and workflow documentation as services or requirements change.
- Use QA feedback to investigate rejection and rework trends and correct recurring issues through process, training or tooling changes.
- Report capacity, throughput, production risks, quality trends and implementation progress to the Head of Content.
- Implementation milestones completed and approved workflows adopted into routine production.
- Completeness and adoption of service definitions, briefing requirements and documented responsibilities.
- Accuracy of production time and capacity estimates against actual delivery.
- On-time delivery and first-time QA approval without rework.
- Team utilisation and throughput against planned capacity and job complexity.
- Reduction in recurring rejection, rework and handover issues.
- Editor development, engagement and retention.
- Stakeholder feedback and successful training and handover of approved workflows.

- Experience introducing technologies or production types such as AI-enabled imagery, 3D, 360 or video into a live production environment.
- Working understanding of independent QA, production standards, documentation, training and operational handover.
- A background in photography, retouching or digital imagery production is advantageous.
- Strong people leadership and coaching ability.

Working relationships and responsibilities
The Multimedia Lead owns Multimedia implementation, production leadership, scheduling and team development. Multimedia Editors create and edit assigned content under this leadership.
The Photography Lead owns photography planning and capture; Retouch and Operations retain responsibility for their own functions, with handovers agreed during implementation.
Multimedia QA independently checks and approves output before release, continues to report through the QA Lead, and operates independently of Multimedia production management. QA approval remains independent of Multimedia production management.
Working environment
A busy studio and office environment with daily production deadlines, implementation projects and collaboration across production functions. Hands-on production support and client-site work may be required according to the brief.
