About the Role Washington Adventist University seeks a part-time Teaching Assistant to support the Biology & Chemistry departments. The TA assists in lab preparation, setup, and supervision to ensure safe, effective teaching labs; works under the course instructor and contributes to student learning. The role requires currently being a full-time student at WAU and typically involves about 6 hours per week.
What You'll Do
- Prepare media and reagents for laboratory activities.
- Participate in construction, assembly, testing and/or operation of laboratory equipment.
- Set up teaching laboratories; order, receive, and distribute laboratory supplies to faculty.
- Clean and maintain lab rooms, equipment, and supplies; uphold safety procedures in teaching laboratories.
- Supervise the lab and assist students during chemical or biological experiments.
- Grade lab reports, quizzes, and proctor exams under the direction of the course instructor.
What We're Looking For
- Must be a full-time student at Washington Adventist University.
- Laboratory experience consisting of at least one-year college courses in chemistry or biology.
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties: leadership ability; oral communication skills; interpersonal skills.
- Teaching Assistants have an approximate time commitment of 6 hours per week.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly rate: $17.65 - $21.15/hour. Pay rate is based on experience in science classes.
