About the Role We are seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join Queen Margaret Academy on a fixed-term contract. You will support students across the classroom with tailored, high-quality support to enhance learning, engagement, confidence, and well-being, under the guidance of the class teacher. What You'll Do
- Support students across the classroom by applying effective strategies to help them access learning, stay focused, and make progress.
- Deliver planned learning activities and targeted interventions under the guidance of the class teacher, adapting approaches to meet individual needs.
- Contribute to assessment, maintain accurate records, and communicate professionally with colleagues and parents/carers.
- Monitor progress and collaborate with teachers, leaders and other professionals to ensure responsive and effective support.
- Support social and emotional development, independence, and positive behaviour; help create a safe, positive learning environment. What We're Looking For

- Holds or working towards a relevant qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent); willing to complete safeguarding, first aid, and SEND-related development training.
- GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
- Confident supporting students on a one-to-one or small-group basis using effective strategies to promote focus and positive behaviour.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy, active listening, and effective communication with students, staff, and parents/carers.
- Can prepare, organise, and deliver learning activities and support materials tailored to student needs.
- Can work independently under the guidance of the class teacher, delivering interventions and activities where required.
- Remains calm under pressure, makes sound decisions, and contributes to a safe, positive learning environment.
- Flexible, reliable, and adaptable to changing needs within the school.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Nice to Have

- Salary: Actual annual salary £16,196 – £17,460 (Full-time equivalent £28,859 – £31,111).
