About the Role The Teacher Assistant – Non-Public School (NPS) at Vista School supports the teacher in developing and carrying out curriculum and behavior modification systems for emotionally disturbed children/adolescents. This role requires collaboration with school staff to maintain a positive, safe learning environment and accurate documentation. What You'll Do
- Assist the teacher in developing and carrying out curriculum and behavior modification systems for emotionally disturbed children/adolescents.
- Adhere to professional standards: punctuality, daily check-ins, and clear communication with the supervisor.
- Maintain and document student progress, behavior management plans, and academic records; collect data for treatment plan reviews and progress reports.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support consistent behavior management and academic programming.
- Demonstrate understanding of the Special Education population and pursue ongoing professional growth.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and in-services; maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries with students.
- Ensure proper documentation such as UORs, incident reports, attendance, and classroom files; assist with inventory and supply management.
- Driving may be required on occasions. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree required; CPR/First Aid and Class B driver credential may be required.
- Experience with emotionally disturbed/autistic children preferred.
- Ability to hear and verbally communicate with others; capable of interrupting physical altercations and applying CPR/First Aid if needed.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to documentation; maintain respectful, professional relationships with staff and students.
- Willingness to adhere to professional standards of conduct and confidentiality. Nice to Have
- Some classrooms or recreational experience. Compensation & Benefits
- Pay rate: $19-$21 per hour
