About the Role As a Tax Manager at KSM, you will lead and develop the tax practice, oversee engagements, and provide technical expertise to deliver high-quality client service. This role blends people leadership with tax technical knowledge to grow relationships and drive value for clients and the firm. What You'll Do

  • Lead and develop tax staff through coaching, ongoing feedback, performance management, and career development.
  • Serve as a technical resource to clients and team members on complex tax matters; review tax returns, workpapers, tax research, and other client deliverables to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Maintain technical expertise across areas including flow-through taxation, corporate, individual, estate and trust, gift, property, multi-state, and international tax reporting; monitor tax law developments and advise on their impact.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service; manage multiple client engagements, including planning, staffing, workflow management, and timely delivery; identify and resolve engagement issues.
  • Manage governmental tax examinations and represent clients before taxing authorities when appropriate.
  • Contribute to practice growth by strengthening client relationships, identifying opportunities to expand services, and participating in business and community networking. What We're Looking For
  • Proven leadership and staff development experience in a tax practice; ability to coach, mentor, and build high-performing teams.
  • Strong technical tax knowledge across one or more areas (flow-through, corporate, individual, estate/trust, gift, property, multi-state, international) and the ability to review complex tax returns and deliverables.
  • Excellent client service and relationship-building skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements and communicate effectively with clients and firm leadership.
  • Experience with government tax examinations and representing clients before taxing authorities; ability to manage issues and deliver outcomes.
  • Appetite for business development and practice growth, including identifying opportunities and networking with clients and professional communities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and project management skills; CPA or equivalent credentials are preferred.
