About the Role

Join Baker Tilly as a Tax Manager with our Southfield, MI office, providing tax and advisory services to small business clients. You will work closely with firm leadership, coach staff, and help drive client success and growth. This role offers the opportunity to impact the firm and develop your leadership skills within a growing tax practice.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee and provide services pertaining to accounting, bookkeeping and prepared or compiled financials for small business clients.

  • Review and analyze accounting records and/or reporting with clients, provide analysis and consultation, and communicate with clients about accounting and business matters.

  • Lead and plan client engagements, continuously evaluate processes and procedures to implement efficiencies and identify internal control issues.

  • Provide recommendations for business and process improvements based on knowledge of the client’s operations, processes, and objectives.

  • Manage and build client relationships, act as liaison to address and resolve client issues, and assist team leaders in researching and providing additional services to clients.

  • Delegate and oversee work by setting goals, providing resources, removing obstacles, and scheduling deadlines to meet client delivery expectations.

  • Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal tax practices and laws.

  • Assist with managing client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure client profitability targets are met.

  • Utilize entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships with clients and prospects.

  • Experience providing tax, accounting and advisory services to small business clients.

  • Ability to work face-to-face with clients as a trusted business advisor.

  • Desire for autonomy and the ability to own your schedule and development.
