Job Summary
The role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to aid Dangote Cement Plc in complying with tax legislation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Accurately preparing and filing federal and state tax returns in a timely manner.
- Developing and implementing tax planning strategies to optimize the organization's tax position while maintaining compliance.
- Identifying tax problems and developing solutions.
- Coordinating and managing tax audits, investigations, and assessments by tax authorities
- Completing responses to tax queries and objections.
- Reviewing tax computations, returns and payment to ensure timely filing
- Overseeing tax accounting and tax reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Conducting periodic tax health checks and ensuring adequate controls are in place to mitigate tax risks
- Monitoring changes in tax legislation and advising management on their impact on the business
- Reviewing contracts and business transactions to identify tax implications and recommend tax-efficient structures.
- Review and assess related party transactions to ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations, tax laws, and company policies
- Providing advisory, training and guidance to internal stakeholders on tax compliance requirements
- Supervising members of the tax team to ensure that tax returns are completed correctly.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Accounting or related discipline.
- Relevant professional accounting qualification such as. ACA, ACCA etc.
- Minimum of (10) years relevant work experience.
- Big 4 experience is an advantage
Skills and Competencies
- Proven experience as a tax manager or similar role
- Strong knowledge of tax legislation, particularly corporate taxation, indirect taxation, transfer pricing and tax administration
- Extensive knowledge of tax legislation.
- Ability to manage tax audits and regulatory engagements
- Proficient in SAP, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
