Job title: Tax Manager
About the Role Tax Manager at Baker Tilly Advisory will lead US tax engagements for corporate, partnership, individual, and trust and estate tax matters. The role emphasizes advising clients, shaping tax service objectives, and overseeing the preparation and review of tax returns, while mentoring staff and identifying process improvements.
What You'll Do
- Advise clients on corporate, partnership, individual and trust and estate tax services
- Help determine tax service objectives, scope and methodology and actively participate in communications with client management to understand the client’s business and to identify possible tax solutions
- Oversee the calculation and analysis of tax strategies for clients and assist with delivering to the client
- Manage and review the preparation of corporate, partnership, or individuals, including federal, foreign, state and local tax return, estimated payments and extensions. Monitor, document and apply the tax laws for US tax return preparation
- Continue to develop relationships with clients, including involvement in networking and business development activities
- Provide both leadership and supervision to Tax Seniors and Staff
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute towards implementing them
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's / Master’s degree with a major in accounting and CPA or CA
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in US Taxation
- Previous experience in a public accounting firm and Proficient in corporate, partnership and individual taxation
- Minimum of 2 years of supervising and training experience
- Prior experience working with large, multi-state, internationally active middle-market clients preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills required for managing multiple client engagements
- Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and ability to work overtime, as needed
