Job title: Tax Director, NorCal Corporate Tax
About the Role Join Baker Tilly as a Tax Director with the NorCal Corporate Tax team. You will lead industry-focused tax advisory and compliance for middle-market clients, mentor staff, and partner with firm leadership to grow the practice across Northern California.
What You'll Do
- Be a trusted member of the engagement team providing corporate tax compliance and consulting services to industry-specific clients.
- Lead client relationships on day-to-day tax matters for clients ranging from middle market to multinational.
- Consult on technical matters in corporate and pass-through taxation, accounting methods, and ASC 740.
- Research various tax matters, respond to IRS and other tax authority inquiries, and make recommendations to the client for consideration.
- Coordinate with specialty tax practices on state and local, high net worth, international, research and development, credits and incentives areas.
- Manage client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure client profitability targets are met.
- Utilize entrepreneurial skills to network and build relationships internally and externally with the goal of acquiring new clients, projects, and revenue.
- Invest in your professional development individually and through participation in firm-wide learning and development programs.
- Support the growth and development of team members through the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy, helping associates meet their professional goals.
What We're Looking For
- Experience leading corporate tax engagements and a demonstrated ability to manage client relationships across middle-market to multinational clients.
- Strong knowledge of corporate tax compliance and advisory, ASC 740, and related accounting methods.
- Experience coordinating with specialty tax practices (SALT, international, R&D, credits/incentives).
- Ability to mentor and coach staff, with a track record of building high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and business development skills; entrepreneurial mindset.
