Canonical is seeking a Talent Scientist – Graduate Lead to develop and advance its global graduate hiring strategy. This is a remote role focused on talent science, data-driven hiring, performance analysis, and building partnerships with leading universities around the world. The successful candidate will help attract and assess exceptional early-career talent while improving the effectiveness, fairness, and scientific rigor of Canonical’s hiring processes.
The role is not a traditional recruiter position. Instead, it focuses on using data, analytics, behavioural assessment, and scientifically informed hiring practices to improve talent selection and predict hiring outcomes. The successful candidate will work closely with business leaders and global stakeholders to ensure that hiring decisions are objective, efficient, and aligned with the organisation’s high standards.
Key responsibilities include developing partnerships with leading academic institutions, creating compelling propositions to attract top graduate talent, and providing data-driven insights into hiring performance. The role will also involve conducting in-depth behavioural interviews, analysing hiring outcomes, monitoring recruitment activities, and building dashboards and reporting systems to provide real-time visibility into talent processes.
The Talent Scientist will also be responsible for reviewing and improving hiring processes, tools, and candidate experiences. They will work with external platforms and third parties to maximise recruitment investments, support diversity and inclusion initiatives, and help reduce unconscious bias throughout the selection process. The role also includes training and advising stakeholders on effective behavioural and competency-based interviewing.
