Tel Aviv Light Rail – Purple Line Project
We are looking for a Systems Technician & Operational Tram Driver to join the Purple Line project team.
This hands-on role combines technical work on tram and railway systems—including HVAC, electrical, signalling and other infrastructure systems—with tram movements for test runs and system checks. Dedicated operational driving training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities

Perform technical maintenance and service work on HVAC, electrical, signalling and other railway systems.

Monitor and coordinate tram movements along the line and within stations during testing activities.

Move trams as required, following operational instructions and safety procedures.

Operate an auxiliary vehicle for towing trams when required.

Coordinate tram movements in testing areas, working closely with testing teams.

Conduct track checks before operations to ensure the route is clear of obstacles and safe for movement.

Support coordination with construction and testing teams, including scheduling meetings, submitting permit requests and handling routine operational tasks.

Comply with all applicable safety rules and operating procedures.

Training & Work Location

Successful candidates will attend a dedicated operational tram driving course at Lavi, the light rail operations and maintenance company in Jerusalem.

The course lasts approximately six weeks, with daily training from 08:00 to 16:30 in Jerusalem.

Following training, the role will initially be based at the company’s offices in Or Yehuda and will later involve work at sites along the Purple Line route. The currently active site is near Tel Aviv Savidor Central railway station.
Requirements

Previous technical or electromechanical experience — required.

Willingness to learn railway systems and complete operational tram driving training.

Availability to attend the full training course in Jerusalem.

Mandatory Regulatory Eligibility Requirements

Aged 24 or above.

A valid driving licence held for at least two years.

No criminal record.

No traffic convictions within the past five years, subject to verification with the Ministry of Transport.
