About the Role The Systems Engineering Manager leads the telecom satellite programs at OHB System AG in Bremen, overseeing system engineering activities across project phases B1 through B2/C/D, and coordinating with project management, the customer, and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure the mission's technical objectives are met.

What You'll Do

• Technical and organizational management of System Engineers in their assignments on the project, initially in phase B1 and later in phase B2/C/D, guiding the achievement of mission objectives
• Act as interface to project management and the customer for any technical questions
• Define the system requirements (including verification approach), coordinated with project management
• Evaluate and challenge the running development and technical design, including independent analyses according to system requirements; initiate corrective actions when deviations exist
• Define the systems engineering processes to organise and coordinate work between SE, ENG, AIT, PA/QA, SCM and Project Management
• Ensure technical information exchange and networking within the project team, with Telecom Systems and other departments
• Organise regular checkpoints, integrate cost- and technical budget contributions to establish system-level budgets
• Responsible for timely delivery of inputs/outputs of the system engineering team
• Support project management in risk assessment, cost structure and overall planning
• Cooperate with the payload department in telecom and other satellite engineering teams on satellite design
• Support studies and projects related to telecom systems business
• Support cost optimization of OHB telecommunication platform products

What We're Looking For

• Master degree in engineering, physics or aerospace engineering or equivalent qualification
• At least 5 years of experience in space business as technical/system lead in proposals, studies (phase A/B) and projects (phase B2/C/D)
• Experience in system engineering from mission definition (including constellation) to satellite/platform/subsystems design including AIV/AIT phase
• Experience in the technical fields of space communication systems, especially telecommunications satellites
• Strong self-motivation and ability to identify with the goals
• Strong capability to challenge the technical baseline and propose/undertake corrective actions
• Very good communication skills and ability to work in a team
• Very good knowledge of English; German is a plus
