About the Role Senior Systems Engineer will own end-to-end design and technical quality for mission-critical digital land mobile radio systems for Government and Public Safety customers. You will act as the solution architect and technical consulting lead, working with cross-functional teams and end-user customers to deliver world-class, leading-edge LMR solutions. What You'll Do
- Final design and implementation of the radio network accounting for infrastructure, subscribers, power systems design, equipment shelter and tower layouts, backhaul network design including microwave, leased line, and customer-provided Ethernet networks
- Build strong relationships with end-user customers and peers; deliver customer presentations
- Supply input and participate in system staging; develop acceptance test plans and perform system functional acceptance testing
- Perform radio coverage testing and interference mitigation; participate in radio system licensing (FCC/Industry Canada/NTIA)
- Prepare fleetmap, encryption, and radio programming templates; produce as-built system documentation
- Lead live system cutovers and upgrades; support plans for system maintenance
- Ensure documentation and compliance throughout project lifecycle What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of Systems Engineering or Wireless Communications experience
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely; employer sponsorship not available
- Travel 25-50% per project requirements; relocation None
- Experience in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE networks
- Working knowledge of IP networking, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS)
- Possession or ability to pursue certifications: CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar
- Excellent communications skills and ability to present complex topics to nontechnical audiences; self-motivated
- Ability to obtain background clearance as required by State/local government agencies Nice to Have
- Previous knowledge/experience with Juniper, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel, Xtreme, and/or Ceragon equipment
- Experience or knowledge of switching and routing protocols (OSPF, ISIS, iBGP, eBGP, M-BGP, MPLS RSVP TE, and LDP)
- Knowledge of line-of-sight microwave path design characteristics Compensation & Benefits
- Target Base Salary Range: $95,000 to $105,000 USD
